The weathered shell

I have often wondered why Anne Morrow Lindbergh in her classic, "Gift from the Sea", did not write about the weathered shell in relation to a woman's soul; for its true beauty lies deep within. Years of weathering un-peel the layers to uncover beautiful purple hues. So, a woman's "beauty should not come from outward adornment...Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight."
